Many parents love Alva baby cloth diapers , they are my husband’s favorite cloth diapers to use when he is in charge of a diaper change,

Some people don’t like them because the Alva baby pocket style cloth diapers have a smaller pocket opening which they feel makes them harder to stuff.

However Alva baby cloth diapers are an excellent place to get started with cloth diapering.

It’s hard to find anyone who hasn’t tried Alva baby cloth diapers, in my experience Alva baby pocket style cloth diapers are usually the first cloth diapers people come across when they begin researching cloth diapers.

Why are Alva baby cloth diapers so popular?

Alva baby cloth diapers are one of the most popular brands of cloth diaper on the market because they are cheap and readily available

Alva baby cloth diapers are everywhere, along with many off-brand Alva baby diapers so they’re very easy to find, just type “Alva baby cloth diapers” into amazon and there they are.

On top of that they are super cute, you can find just about any kind of print on an Alva baby cloth diaper,

Also Alva baby cloth diapers are very cheap, you can buy a 6 pack of pocket style cloth diapers with 12 inserts on amazon for $29.99 or go to the Alva baby website where they are

Amazon doesn’t have Alva baby cloth diaper covers or all-in-ones which is kinda sad but the pocket cloth diapers seem to be their most popular product

Are Alva baby cloth diapers any good?

Most of what I have heard and experienced in regards to Alva baby cloth diapers has always been pretty positive.

Alva baby cloth diapers are often referred to as “china cheapies” but that does not mean that they function poorly.

I personally have never had a problem with Alva baby cloth diapers, however Alva baby isn’t known to have the best quality control,

So there is the potential that you could get a bad batch of TPU ( the pretty, water resistant outer layer) but it’s not a common thing,

They also have on their website that their cloth diapers are ” 60 times washable” in the description on some diapers right above their one year guarantee,

So I’m guessing they mean their cloth diapers are only guaranteed to last through 60 washes, but I’ve washed mine way more than 60 times and the Alva baby’s are still fine.

I have some that are 3 years old and look great, the elastics are good, the inner lining isn’t all stained up, all the snaps are still there and function the same as they always did.

There have been questions about how they get their some of there prints and working conditions in the Alva baby factories such as safety and fair wages.

Are Alva baby diapers easy to use?

Overall I would say that Alva baby cloth diapers are very easy to use,

Alva baby cloth diapers can be slightly confusing because they have 3 snaps on each wing as apposed to 2 as well as crossover snaps

The cloth diaper covers have inner flaps to help hold an insert in place and the TPU seems pretty sturdy,

The pocket style cloth diapers have a fairly straightforward design, you just stuff an insert of your choosing in the opening at the back of the pocket diaper and then snap the diaper on your baby,

Alva baby All-in-one

The all-in-one cloth diapers look almost identical to the pocket style diapers but have a sewn in absorbent bamboo and microfiber pad, but since in still has the pocket opening you can still easily add extra absorbency should you need it.

Alva baby All-in-two

From what I’ve seen of the Alva baby All-in-two cloth diaper it is basically a pocket style cloth diaper except it has double gussets,

The inserts snap into the diaper as well as get stuffed into the pocket and the cloth diaper itself is shaped different than the regular Alva baby cloth diapers.

I’ve never used the Alva baby newborn pocket style cloth diapers, the All-in-two or the swim diaper.

I haven’t heard anything bad about the Alva baby newborn pocket diaper other than since the diaper is so small therefore the pocket opening is also very small and the diaper is very narrow making it hard to stuff the insert inside.

Alva baby cloth diapers have a waist snap, a leg snap and a hip snap as well as crossover snaps, while there are some people who really enjoy the hip snap, there are others who don’t appreciate it as much because they find it cumbersome and confusing.

Sadly Alva baby does not currently offer hook and loop/ Velcro on their cloth diapers, but you do need to be careful when purchasing a hook and loop/ Velcro cloth diaper,

Because not all hook and loop/ Velcro is created equal, so even if Alva baby did offer hook and loop/ Velcro I just don’t know if the quality would be there.

Alva baby also offers a ” Big size” cloth diaper that is meant to fit babies from a one year old up to a three and a half year old toddler.

My daughter is three and in the 40th percentile for height and weight and she is almost too big for the regular Alva baby pocket style cloth diapers

Washing Alva baby cloth diapers

Washing Alva baby cloth diapers is very simple, just pick a cloth diaper safe detergent and follow their recommendations.

Alva baby recommends you wash your Alva baby cloth diapers in warm water no hotter than 86 degrees Fahrenheit ( 30 degrees Celsius) then follow that with a cold rinse, then hang dry or tumble dry on low heat.

I’ve put my Alva baby cloth diapers through many different wash routines through the years, at first because I was learning how to wash cloth diapers in general.

Later on things would change like going from hard water that requires more detergent to soft water that requires less detergent ,

Or thinking I need to use hot water or my cloth diapers wouldn’t get clean then my washing machine deciding it doesn’t like using hot water so figuring out warm water works just fine for me,

Keep in mind the standard temperature most water heaters are set at is 120 degrees Fahrenheit ( 48.889 degrees Celsius) which is way above the temperature Alva baby recommends and I’m guessing will void any warranties but while it may have effected the lifespan of my cloth diapers I never really noticed a problem.

In conclusion

Alva baby cloth diapers are cheap, easy to find, function well and have pretty much any print or picture on them that you can think of you just might have to hunt around a little if it’s an odd subject or theme,

There are tons of cloth diaper shops that either carry Alva baby cloth diapers of an off- brand Alva baby cloth diaper of some sort.

I also feel that they are perfect for the kids to play outside and get dirty in, since I just bought a cheap random gender neutral 6 pack on amazon

It’s not a big deal to me if the cloth diaper gets a stain or tear ( which has never happened to any of my cloth diapers) because if it’s really that bad I’m not gonna feel to bad about throwing it away.

The first cloth diapers I ever ordered were a 6 pack of Alva baby pocket style cloth diapers from amazon, I still use all 6 almost on a daily basis.
